Is this a cheap intel overclocking setup?

Gigabyte GA-P35-S3L, Pentium Dual Core E2160 and GeIL 2GB PC2-6400

CPU: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
Mobo: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
    Ram: GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

I have read some pretty good things about the new pentiums, most seem to be able to reach at least 32ghz+ on a P35 mobo and that Gigabyte one seems to be one of the chaeper ones out there, and is the component I am most unsure about, if anyone can reccomend another cheap P35 mobo then please do.

    I have:

    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
    Pentium Dual Core E2180
    Corsair 2GB PC2-6400

My setup runs @3.40GHz allday (first ever attempt at Overclocking).

Your CPU and RAM are good choices but I'm a bit anti Gigabyte when it comes to P35 boards, I'd be looking at something like this:

    - Abit IP-35 ~ £78.71

I know it's more expensive but if you're going for a high FSB overclock it'll be worth it.

Re: Is this a cheap intel overclocking setup?

It is over £20 more expensive, and as I have been given a tight budget to upgrade my brothers pc, I do really like the look of that mobo though, and Abit are quite good (my own favorite is Asus, and has been for about 5 years, but they are pricey)

Edit: is this one any good?
Abit IP-35E: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

It seems to be mostly the same as the other Abit one, just lacking the fancy heatpipe cooler and a few minor things.

Yup, I'd go for that board over the Gigabyte anyday

IMO Abit have much better boards out over ASUS at the moment

Having had a bit of a search it seems pretty good, don't think you'd be disappointed.

Re: Is this a cheap intel overclocking setup?

Ok, got myself a E4300 from the hexus forums for about the same price as an E2160, so am happy, I shouldn't have to change any of this setup should I? I checked up, and a board that will clock a PDC will do a C2D just as nicely.
One thing though, do you think that a cooler like this: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK will do a better job than the stock cooler?

Re: Is this a cheap intel overclocking setup?

You're right to be looking at after market coolers, but not that one... I'd be getting something like this:

    - Scythe Miné ~ £23.49

Re: Is this a cheap intel overclocking setup?

Couldn't quite make the budget go for that one, so got him an Artic cooling freezer 7 pro at the same time as the abit mobo and got the ram from OCuk.
