also is the ram good for overclocking and does anyoneknow how i compares to other ram? i was thinking maybe get some ocz ram
and wats the potential damge with overclocking the cpu is the cooler adaquate enough to keep it cool and functioning nicely and how simple is it to peform the overclocking on this cpu?
also i have been looking around and it seems that the intel core 2 duo is better for gaming then the quad this may be differnt with a overclocked chip

Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
Most of the 8800GTs are built from the same reference design, there's not much that sets them apart, BFG and eVGA come highly recommended though for build quality and eVGA in particular come with a great warranty. You have the option of getting a factory pre-overclocked card (labelled "OC2" by BFG and "Superclocked" by eVGA).
I'd go for a WD AAKS series disk, they're just as quiet as the spinpoints but a tad faster in performance.
Don't pay attention to 'hardcore gamers', they're short sighted and pretty clueless. The Q6600 is the best buy, even in present day gaming they level or ace dual cores and will obliterate them in future games.
Everything else looks spot on.
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
what's the total cost from yoyotech ?
Other places to look at are Scan Computers UK (you get free delivery if you have 25+ posts, you have 17 already) and Microdirect.
For overclocking, Clunk has done a great guide, it's a sticky I believe. Also Tom's hardware has just released a guide Overclocking: Dual- vs. Quad-Core CPUs | Tom's Hardware
The Scythe Ninja is a decent cooler, there's a roundup of cpu heatsinks at MADSHRIMPS - Hardware Reviews

That ram is pretty much the best you can buy for overclocking. The potential damage to the CPU comes from increasing the voltage to the chip, and can shorten its life dramatically, but a lot of people overclock them with no or very little voltage increase. I have had my E6600 running at 3.4 GHz (instead of the standard 2.4GHz) since I bought it last year and no problems so far. The Scythe Ninja is good, I think the Ultra 90 performs better, is smaller and cheaper, but both will do the job nicely.

Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
have i made a good choice with the adivce given from yo guys how does this compare to my orginal pick and can someone help with my gfx card choice problem
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
For the graphics
Forget the GTS for £285, you can buy GTX's from £290+
Go with an 8800GT whatever is in stock will be fine. If you've got money to spare you could get a GTX or ultra instead, but with the new GTS coming out in December and new cards next year it makes more sense to get an 8800GT.
To use up your budget, you could get a speedy 150G WD Raptor HD as your main hard drive with a drive silencer, and use a Samsung for a storage drive.
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
Forget the GTS, the GT kills it in every way, and the GTX in some regards, and not far behind on performance. In terms of a price/performance/energy ratio, the GT is a win.
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
so u will reccomend i get this one
YOYOtech
or is there a bettr 1 out there
sooo with wat i have come up with now is it looking good?
bare in mind i will be running 2 19inch tfts and wanting to play crysis bioshock ect
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
I have 2 19" heads on my old 8800GTS, plays all current games fine. So that card will be fine.
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
they are all pretty much the same..finding stock of them is the hardest thing to do right now.

Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
well im not really serious about overclocking but i wanna get the bets i possibly can get ect ect and overclocking this system should be good and give good performance
the
Abit IP-35, iP35 Express, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 533/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX
seems good and a not bad price 2
Re: new stuff thinking of getting need opinions
I built a pc a little while back using the q6600 and the IP-35. Found it to be the best motherboard i've ever used tbh.
It's layout is perfect, ran cool and stable. Best board for the money imo.
