    Replacement Front USB Ports

I managed to break the USB ports on the front of my case, had something plugged in there and kicked it by mistake as I was walking past . Here's an image showing what I mean:

So, I'm looking to replace the USB ports, but I can't find a replacement pair of USB ports anywhere Searches on the internet give me endless USB hubs/peripherals but not just the ports.

Anyone know where I can find something like this, or if people just don't sell them?

    Re: Replacement Front USB Ports

Depends how they're attached. You could probably pull some off another case if they're on their own, but if the whole of the front panel is on its own circuit board then you might be out of luck.

    Re: Replacement Front USB Ports

Thanks, although I took it apart for a closer look and the firewire, USB, and audio ports are all moulded together, so it may not be as easy as I first thought. I'll save the link for when I get some spare time though

    Re: Replacement Front USB Ports

Looking at those prices you might as well get yourself a super-chepo case from Ebuyer and take the USB ports off that! £10.56 for one, ouch.

    Edit:
    Weeeeeeee

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

could work if you dont want to change case
there are versions with firewire too
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

    Re: Replacement Front USB Ports

I've got another sugestion for you
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
I got one for my case mod as it didn't have front USB, these are 2 seperate usb sockets (can be unscrewed from the IO plate) that run to motherboard header pulgs, although the leads are rather short and probably will not reach.

    So combine it with
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
or if you've got free usb ports at the back of you case skip the bracket
Then fix the end of the lead to your desk or monitor stand

I must admit I never got around to properly mounting the frone USB on my case as haveing a usb lead on the desk is far more useful than on the front of the pc on the floor, no ferreting around under the desk to plug things in and no chance of accedently kicking them.

    Re: Replacement Front USB Ports

What case is it? You could try dropping an email to the manufacturer, I've contacted antec and lian-li in the past and they've both done their best to help.
