Front Firewire ports and an Audigy, do they mix?

    Hi there,

I was wondering if it is possible to use the internal firewire header on the Audigy to connect to a front port on my case. I ask as the pin layouts on the connector and the audigy don't seem to be the same (the case is a coolermaster centurion). Does anyone know the pinout for the Audigy?

    Thanks,

    Pickers

i've recently bought an audigy & now that you've mentioned it i really want to know the answer to this!!

i've had no luck finding the layout of the firewire header from the manual or google, all i can suggest is creative labs tech support chat service

    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/chat/welcome.asp

unfortunatley this is only open 9am - 5.30pm, i tried the creative USA site but they don't offer the same facility, sorry mate, we'll have to wait till tomorrow

    ============================================

Lorraine : Thank you for contacting Creative Interactive Chat.
    How can I help you?

You : hello - have a question re: audigy internal soundcard - it has a firewire header on-board. can this be used with the front-panel connectors on a case?

Lorraine : Hi , we don't support this -what type of case have you?

You : coolermaster centurion case - i doubted whether you would support it (but obviously i'd like to try it anyway ), where can i obtain a header pin diagram

Lorraine : in the online manual you will find a file hwinfo.hlp -this contains all hardware information available

You : excellent, will take a look shortly - thanks

Lorraine : you're welcome best of luck

    Lorraine : bye now

I managed to rig my audigy card to my xaser III case, bear in mind that you cant use any 'firewire port powered' equipment on the internal connector, use the external one if this is the case.

Hmm I've plugged mine into the header but when I attach my iPod it acts like it is going to connect and then just says 'ok to disconnect' and windows appears to do nothing either, not noticing at all that I've plugged my iPod in. Very weird...
