Thanks for all the comments & ideas.

The dynamo effect I have heard of before, though managed to forget about it until this afternoon when I was vacuuming my case, watching the fans spin & it dawned on me... Thankfully no damage this time, touch wood. I trust, more or less, I'll not make the same mistake next time.

Oh! thanks for the bit of info there. I have 2 dust filters jammed inbetween the front mesh and the fans on my 900 and very so often I stick the hoover to the front of it to remove it, the fans have spun but nothing spectacular and so far everything works. I'll block the fans from spinning next time!

Re: antec ultimate gamer case and my new pc

Ive had the 900 for around 6 months now and dust isnt a problem.
The 200mm is an exhaust fan so the dust shouldnt build up anyway.

I cannot stress this enough, you can kill stuff even with a can of compressed air.
I've done it twice, Once I killed the power regulator of a projector and once I've killed a motherboard (resisters are not supposed to catch fire) both times were done with a can of compressed air.
    Too true!
I have done it before aswell.
Also, dont forget, if its compressed air then there is also a danger of condensation.

Re: antec ultimate gamer case and my new pc

Blitzen: is your environment typical for dust levels? This place tends to be dusty (mostly of the fluff variety), though as I said it's never been a problem with PCs before.

I've read arguments that one big factor is relative air pressure; if the case is at lower pressure than outside it, it'll tend to act like a vacuum cleaner, whereas if the pressure differential from in to out is positive, this will be less of an issue.

At the moment with the psu exhaust & 120 & 200mm exhausts, vs 2 120mm intakes, if the above is true it would be having a negative impact. I might try adding more intakes or swapping the intake fans for something more powerful.

Anyone know what spec the fans are that come with the 900, in respect of air flow rates? All mine are running at low speed, which is fine for temps & necessary for noise levels in a bedroom.

Re: antec ultimate gamer case and my new pc

No it's generally best to air for a balleneced or negivite air flow than a positive one.

The main thing you have to realise is that the antec 900 has quite a high air through put compaired to many and it's this shear volume of air going through that means you get so much dust collecting.

You can reduce the fan speeds to reduce the volume of air being moved through which will help reduce it although this will lead to slightly higher temps.

Re: antec ultimate gamer case and my new pc

This case has no requirement for the fan on the side of the case.
This will intorduce negative air pressure as their is more intake than exhaust.

Re: antec ultimate gamer case and my new pc

One year on and I clearned my antic 900 for the third or forth time. Dissapointed that I didnt get much dust build-up on my fans filters. I do enjoy scrapping off a huge amount. (Makes me think they are working well.)

Dust is so NOT a problem with these cases, or at least with the filters on the front.
me PC is on all the time, on a carpet floor, smoking while on the PC and I would say a rather dusty room.
All that and I dont have any issues, runs cool on all low fan settings. And dust is very light.
I think I could leave it for a year and it will be dusty, but no where near as scary as it could be in other cases.
The word 'Clogged' aint used in reguards to the Antic900

Re: antec ultimate gamer case and my new pc

I've ended up opting for a hi tech custom filter over the front panel built from a stocking & some fuse wire. Keeps the dust out - just a shame I've managed to trash my Raid setup & have no back up (I am an Idiot (tm)).
