Strange bootup

yeh i missed the C key in that post LOL, see what the bios battery voltage is, and deffo put the VGA at stock clocks, although at VGA boot they should be stock TBH, the overclock wont kick in until the video driver does, unless you flashed the VGA Bios.

so i doubt the clocks will be the problem, but if they are at least you will have an answer.

i would try saving the bios settings and hitting the default option though. not sure if your mobo allows a backup of the bios settings, if not paper and pen time !

yeah luckily asus have the oc profile option so i saved it on to there.
Gfx card bios is still default but is overclocked software wise.
Will try to see if this helps with the situation tonight.

Seems clear that it's the GFX card* to me. And I don't see how the hell it's anything to do with the OC. Either the GFX card is not waking up, something I've never heard of before, or it's not getting sufficient power. Conceivably it's the PCI-E slot that's not getting enough power. Have you got all of the motherboard connectors in? And the PCI-E one for the card? Correctly? Sorry if that's a bit grandmother & eggs, but I remember the advice of Sherlock Holmes...

i think it must be getting enough power as 620 clean volts are available, but just not when first booted up..
Yep all mobo connecters, but unfortunately can't try it in the other pci-e slot as the card is long and is obstructed by various hard drives.

Tried 2 different ones, still problem persists.

i personally think its the monitor at fault; like it doesn't get the initial signal to turn on... but then again i can't be sure.

Have you tried just going into BIOS and seeing what happens then??

well if i did go into the bios on a cold boot, the monitor would still appear as no signal recieved.

i wonder if a capacitor on a power rails dodgy, do you have another 6 pin pcie to try, or even the 2x4 pin molex to pcie cable to hook up as a test ?

Lots of good suggestions here, especially BIOS and driver updates. Might also be an overheating problem? If nothing else works, worth trying. Another long-shot is voltage stability, although I agree the Corsair is a good PSU. But if nothing else is working...

yeah i agree lots of good suggestions, tried them all, except for trying a new mobo battery, which i might try soon.
Overheating problem i doubt it, i live in glasgow, and have an antec 900 with all fans on medium, and it anyway how could something overheat when JUST turned on?

take the video card out and check all the caps on there, if any look a little deformed then you have your answer.
