    BFG 8800GTS drivers & vista 64

I just bought a BFG 8800GTS 512mb and am currently trying to install it on my vista x64 machine. First time i tried to install the drivers a pop up came up saying something along the lines of the drivers arnt Microsoft approved etc. Being vista & being confronted with these pop ups all the time i naturally clicked on continue anyway without fully reading it though. As soon as id done this, the installation stopped. The green bar didnt move & it just sat there until i closed it all down. I tried to install it again and each time it would get half way through and then just stop.

Iv tried the BFG drivers off the CD & the Nvidia website's drivers, and both refuse to fully install. Iv done a search on the forums & on the internet and cant find much in the way of people having the same problem/finding a way around it.

The CD did say 'Windows Vista x64 drivers' so the card must be supported....so why is vista blocking it & how do i get around it?

    cheers guys

click here to get the 169.25 WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs Certified) drivers.

If you install them, it shouldnt come up with a 'these drivers arent certified' - cos they are certified, so should work without problem.

    Re: BFG 8800GTS drivers & vista 64

They were the drivers i downloaded when the BFG CD didnt work, but i had the same problem. Half way through the installation it just stopped.

Is there anyway to 'reset' the error/vista mesage that came up to make sure i clicked on the right one/actually give me a chance to read it properly.

    thanks

I use those drivers with Vista 64 Bit and the exact same card as you.
Maybe if you read the installation instructions you wont struggle.

I restarted the installation and just left it and after 10-20mins it completed. I just wasnt giving it enough time. I presumed that since the first half of the installation took a few seconds, the 2nd half would follow suit, after a short pause

Would be nice if progress bars did actually work like that, wouldn't it!

Like the estimated download time remaining...
