New Vista creative drivers and itunes

I recently installed the 'final' Vista drivers released on 9th March for my Audigy 4.

Since installing the new drivers, I have no sound in iTunes. I can play music through media player and all the normal windows jingles play fine too. iTunes loads up fine and appears to play the song (the time is running on the track), but nothing is coming from the speakers.

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes (the latest version) and still nothing.

Ive also uninstalled the creative drivers and gone back to the beta drivers i was using previously and the sound is still not working in itunes.

Anyone got any ideas whats going on or had the same issue?

First guess would be it's messed up the speaker assignments - check that it's not swapped front/rear speakers or anything silly like that.

Thats what I thought Kalniel. Ive configured and checked my speakers in the Vista sound control panel and all is good. As I said, the sound is fine in all but iTunes.

iTunes doesnt have a speaker setup utility that I know of, so it must use the settings in the control panel - which seem to be working and correct.

I thought iTunes didn't work on Vista yet anyway?

I dont use iTunes personally but i've seen similar things happen with other media players in Vista. What you need to do is trawl through the iTunes options and find the output device selection. It will most likely be blank. Set this to your soundcard and it should work fine. Presuming there are no other compatibility issues.

itunes 7.1.0 has been released a little while back, it works with vista now.

cant say the same for creative POS drivers, we wait 2 months from the initial public beta and the "final" drivers arent that different.

joke of a company, if i didnt have to use an audigy zs notebook for SPDIF, that thing would be heading out of the window!

It worked with Vista before that in my case. Ive used the previous and current version of iTunes and the damn thing still wont play any music!

I tried completely uninstalling it and reinstalling the sound drivers last night and its still not working.

I cant find any speaker or audio config for iTunes in the options/preferences menus

These Creative drivers should still be labelled Beta!! Im sure they have just changed the name, date and number and put them up to download.

you should see the creative forums, all the audigy owners are screaming bloody murder and all the admins seem to have the old "selective vision" problem and instead of answering why the driver is still a POS, instead decide to remove posts with bad languages and ignore everything else.

back in the day, having a creative card in my system was a "must" ..now, not a chance if i didnt have to.
