What LAN cable.

Hi guys.

I dont know if the should be in network/internet stuff of what...

I am looking to get up to 6 LAN cables, but dont really know a lot about it. I want to connect some computers to a switch and some just from one computer to the other.

What i really want to know is what is the best spec for cable, if there is such a thing. Itll be going in a 10/100 network.

cat 5e utp cable, any that are from pc to switch are just straight cables, any that are pc to pc are crossover cables

Any old piece of crap Cat5 cable will do

yeah, patch for PC > switch/hub/router and Xover for PC > PC

If your gonna get a switch though, better to just put them all into that

you don't say whether they're all part of the same network or not - if so, you won't get away with pc-pc links

Well they will be all to a switch at the end. At the moment, me and my brothers computer are the only ones networked, but hopefully we can get adsl soon and network that round to all the other computers via a switch.
