"Running at the same speed as the 3200+, the reduction in cache to 512k has only a minor impact on performance. In almost every benchmark, the 3000+ is only a few percent lower in performance than a 3200+. Even more important, the 3000+ performs very well compared to Intel’s 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 — a chip that sells for almost double the cost of the Athlon64 3000+."

i was wondering about the a64 3000 against intel and after looking its better to go with intel, the a64 3000 costs around £160 which is slightly cheaper than a p4 3c (£170ish) performance of the 2 is about as level as it gets but hyper threading gives intel the edge where it matters

overclocking is where the p4 steals it a a64 3000 or 3200 for that matter will only goto around 2.3gig where as a 3c/2.8c p4 whooshes up to 3.6+ easily and a 3.6 p4 wins

what should really make u go intel tho is the fact that the 2.8c is only £135!!!!

I didn't think there was much difference in price between the two.

    I'd get the 3200
