    Icy Box strangeness

    Hi guys

I recently bought an Icy Box from scan.co.uk. Its model number MB559UEA-1S.
I put a 320gb SATA drive in it, its a Western Digital Barracuda, 7200rpm.

I plugged it into a windows vista pc, the hard drive clicked and warmed up, and Vista came up with install new hardware wizard etc. I clicked through, Vista decides it cannot install the hardware/software.

I then plugged it into windows xp pc, same basic thing happens...it tries to install new hardware but cant find any (even with windows searching for support on the net). After it says it cant find any, the HDD warms up some more and the Icy Box' light flickers on for the first time, but still cannot be detected.

I am sure it should be easier than this to install them....I did'nt even think windows should be searching for software for it....

Does anyone have any experience with these things, can help me get it working?

Always been plug-and-play here. Just built-in drivers.

Got another hard drive you can try it with?

did you format the drive first? By plugging into your mobo?

Have you looked under 'Disk Management' (right click on 'My Computer', choose 'Manage' and then 'Disk Management' under XP.)

Does it show the drive? Can you format it from there?
