Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

you see the 'this' heatsink? can that be orientated either way?
so that it won't touch my RAM, 'cause my RAM only works if the closest slot to the CPU is filled with a RAM stick and i don't think i could fit a Ninja in there.

how much is 1 of those fans aswell?

Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

    which would you recommend?
i don't really know what i'd need tbh..

i've only got some cheap 120mm Molex fans from eBuyer.
and a 92mm cooling my RAM.

would the 47CFM be sufficient for a Q6600 at 3GHz?
i'm looking for around 30 - 35 at idle, if that's possible, getting around 41'C at idle now.

Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

If I was looking at Thermalright coolers then it would be the Ultima 90 rather than the Ultra 120, a bit smaller but better performance, if you want bigger then the Ultra 120 extreme is the next step up.

They can both be oriented either horizontally or vertically my Ultima 90 doesn't cover my RAM when vertical (motherboard G33m-DS2R)

and while I haven't tried it would think clearance would be fine horizontally as well.

Oh and 47cfm (about what my 120mm Akasa Amber moves) would be fine the higher the better the cooling (to a certain point, it will depend on heatsink design) but the more noise it makes.

Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

if you want quiet fans then go for Noctua p-12's, expensive, but well worth it. if your one of the people thats not too bothered about noise then go for the 88cfm yate loon for £4 does kick out 40db though, you can't really go wrong with yate loons at that price. its all down to personal preference.

if you want to go super cool (also not so quiet, about 59db) then go for the beast hereComputer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK but at 190 cfm that would be overkill, plus the fact youd have to strap your pc down to stop it taking off.
you need to decide cooling, or silence, you need to choose which one is more important, so you can comprimise a little

i was under the impression that the TRU120 and the TRU120E are exactly the same size the TRU120E just has more heatpipes therefore better cooling capacity?

edit: oop i misread the post sorry

I have bought some loonies from this place, the d12sl-12's are not SILENT but they are very quiet you can 7v mod them also if you feel the need

Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

    OK a few things.
    Mine over freezer7pro

    Akasa AK965x3 over freezer7pro
Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
    same basic cooler for less

I'd not go for the thermalright Ultra-120 over the ninja or mine, the Thermalright Ultra-120eXtreme is another matter. the basic ultra120 is not that good, it's the additional heat pipes in the eXtreme that make it the better cooler.
The Ultima90 is basically a smaller version on the ultra-120eXtreme with a 120mm fan attached it is quite tall so make sure your case is deep enough.
While I'm useing the ultima90 and can agree it's a good cooler at a cost of £28+fan that pushes it well over the budget.

p.s. it's very easy to remove and replace the fan in the Scythe Mine if you want to increase the air flow.

For low cost cooling on a q6600 I'd go with the Scythe Mine or even the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 (as Viao sugested)

Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

Quieter, it's not a 4pin PWM fan so it's fixed speed (unless you have a motherboard that can automatically regulate3pin fans) however it has a decent air flow and is very quiet.

EDIT: not sure if the xfx 680i can regulate 3pin fans, it'll be in the bios settings if it can, I know the Abit ip-35pro can.

Re: AC Freezer 7 Pro or Scythe Miné?

i'm pretty much 100% sure that it can't, this board is useless! it's capable of about 350FSB.. yes, i did try with the Intel Stock fan

should easily be capable of about 400 FSB.
can only achieve a 3150MHz OC with this board

and the northbridge probably glows during gaming and heavy benchmarking, it's beyond a joke!

    NEVER buy this board!
