    Re: WHICH memory speed?

Don't be .........! Think before you post!

Have you heard of dual channel memory?

Why would I put 2x against other items but dual against the RAM other than to list dual channel. Besides GeIL don't make 2x2GB sticks for the Ultra.

Anyhow, changed it now so no more misunderstandings.

    Re: WHICH memory speed?

So you already do have 4GB? It wasn't LIES after all! I thought you said that you only have 2x1GB in this post...
so in the small chance of a faulty new stick, you can still run 2GB in each machine temporarily until rma'd...

I simply meant in that post that was the type of RAM I had, not the quantity.

Yes indeed I do have 4GB in total installed and thought as I will be rebuilding my daughters machine soon(ish) that I might use this for hers and use this opportunity to acquire possibly some new different perhaps better RAM.? Not that that there is anything wrong with what I have.

    Re: WHICH memory speed?

    Glad thats cleared up

OK, I would go for 2x2GB over 4x1GB. But you seem to know enough to make the decision for yourself

    Re: WHICH memory speed?

Not worth upgrading, but buying new certainly get 2x2Gb. As for PC8500, IMO it depends on the price premium. I'd certainly fork out an extra tenner for it.
