    Asus M2n4-sli

    Hi guys,

Bit of a problem here, I fear the worse but I thought I ought to check.

I have an M2N4-SLI motherboard, which I recently thought I would flash the BIOS on as I'm considering buying a new Phenom chip. I used the Asus update utility, but unfortunately it failed on the third step - the checking of it.

I tried again a few more times and it still didn't work, so I restarted.

Now when I try to turn the computer on I get nothing. The CPU fan spins around about 3 times and then stops - nothing appears on the screen.

    Have I fried my mobo?

The motherboard shouldn't be dead. The BIOS chip does not have proper information to boot the PC, you could get another BIOS chip or I've heard people have put a BIOS chip in a workin computer with similar BIOS chip and updated it with a Windows BIOS utility but I'm not sure on this, better to have another opinion.

Try the Asus Crashfree thingy, put in the Driver CD and the BIOS should try to reload itself.

    Re: Asus M2n4-sli

I did this exact same thing with my A8V deluxe. Had to get it rma'ed. Next time use it in DOS mode or if you're intent on using it in Windows, do not switch off until a successful flash. I done mine in Windows at the time because I had no other pc's and I knew if I ffed up I couldn't go find another bios file whereas on Windows I could browse the net and find a earlier bios, download it and flash it.
