Re: Who has a storgeage festish?

Zak, isn't this the second thread your started stating your obsession with storage?

I also have the same obsession and have ended up with 2x Thecus N5200Pros. One with 5x 1TB drives and the other with 5x 500GB drives. Might need to upgrade the 500gbs for 1TBs soon though

umm zak - in your 19,479 posts (not counting the deleted ones from various sub-forums) have you run out of things to say?

i'm only mentioning this cus this is the second topic like this ..

    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...on-t-need.html

you must have a SERIOUS storage fetish to keep mentioning it.. i'll wait another 2 months to see if you do it again..

(psst - i'm seeing how many hard drives I can squeeze into a £1000 budget - complete system upgrade.. so your not the only one, i won't tell you how many i'm up to - you might get moist...)

Re: Who has a storgeage festish?

Yeah I have a habbit of adding extra e's into words like that, and sticking them on the end where they shouldn't be.

    previous(e) is an iffy one.

Re: Who has a storgeage festish?

    I am the same

I have 2 x 250GB drives in my gaming system with about 80% free space a file server holding about 1TB of files with 50% free space and I am now looking at buying 2 x 1TB drives for my games system... why???

    Also I have 1 Bluray / HDDVD MediaPC (AM2 3800+ X2), 1 Gaming system (Q6600), 1 General PC / Slingbox player (P4 2.8), 1 HomeServer (AMD64 3200+ 754). 1 WaterCooled PC (AMD64 3500+ 939), 1 Laptop (Vaio T2310). I Gave my other laptop to my mum!

Why do I need all this stuff? I have my WaterCooled system on my desk in work.... its a good talking point and contractors etc love it.

Re: Who has a storgeage festish?

My name is Martin and I have a storage fetish.
    and a RAM fetish.

Right, not thats out of the way, my excuse is that I'm going to replace my 500GB with a 1TB HDD and get an external enclosure for the 500GB HDD so I can use it for backups. Of my 770GiB of space, I still have 400 GiB free. So why do I keep looking for the right time to go for 1TB.
I've maxed out my RAM to 8GB now. I cant fit any more so its temporarily cured that fetish.

Re: Who has a storgeage festish?

I too have a fetish.... got 150gb as a boot drive and 2 x 500gb for data, was almost completely full till about a week ago. but then started to delete some of the stuff i've downloaded, got about about 300gb left now. caved in to my desire for more space, ordered a 1tb for more storage space tonight.

I have plenty of space, but I keep looking! What's up with me? Do you lot do it too?
I'm currently tempted to buy two 1TB drives to replace my two 500GB (one storage, one to mirror storage) as I only have 150GB left of my storage drive

150GB left and I'm already thinking of new drives

Also love the look of the new Samsung drives - 95MB/s single 1TB drives. Mmmm

Re: Who has a storgeage festish?

Nothing wrong with wanting more storage, stuff's only getting bigger.
My first hard drive was a 540mb drive for my amiga 1200, and everyone was telling me I'd never fill that.
Currently got a server with 6*250gb drives and 3*500gb drives, both raid5 arrays, but with the port capacity to add a further 13 drives. Looking at moving up to 1tb drives soon.
When are we going to get bigger drives than 1tb? Seems to have stayed at that capacity for a while now.

    Server - MSI Z77A-G45 - 16gb ddr3 - i7 2600k - 4u Rack mountable - sas 1068e + expander - 3ware 9650se - 16 * 2tb + 2 * 3tb - TBS 6984, 6284 & 6920 - 2 * astrometa dvb-c - windows 7 pro
