    Re: Which "Enthusiast" Case?

If I remember correctly (my brother has one but I didn't put it together) it has a filtered (i think) opening on the base under the PSU either way it can be mounted so that the fan is not sucking case side and still be level.

Anyway back to OP yeah P182 is a good choice enjoy

Well - I don't think anyone's mentioned it so far - I love my XClio Windtunnel case!!!

Loads of room and effective cooling - a definite contender against the antecs for sure

    Re: Which "Enthusiast" Case?

I can't recommend anything other than a PC-A05.. although it does need a bit of modding to help the GPU cooling.

I'm going to put a watercooling loop in mine this summer :|

On air you will never have any trouble with CPU cooling because it blows external cool air straight through the CPU.

I had the P181 (lol, it was sold as a P180 but came with most of the features the P182 supposedly gets.. ) and it was a good case... but far too many issues for me. Antec build quality whilst very good if you want an enthusiast case you can't beat brushed aluminium, reinforced plastic or ABS or whatever it's made from just doesn't have the same feel.

Also the big killer was carrying it to LAN parties, actually physically hurt myself. I can see it making an excellent home media / file server. Put it in a corner without a monitor and remote desktop to it, store your media on there, do any cpu grunt work there, and then just stream to the rest of the house. It's so quiet you wouldn't notice it (although heat can be an issue, you will definitely need the extra front 120mm intake, and some DIY ducting helps too ).

Also be prepared for SATA cables to snap because there just isnt that much space with 4 hard drives in the bottom compartment!

to the OP, if you haven't already been convinced by the others then here's another vote for the p182. i've got the bigger version, the p190. pretty much the same but bigger. good build quality and attention to detail.

    Re: Which "Enthusiast" Case?

I recently built a new watercooled PC for a friend using a mountain mods case and now I am hooked. Too expensive and too big but gets me everytime.
    Specs:

    Q6600 G0, Thermalright Ultra 120, ABIT IP35 PRO, 4GB Corsair DDR2, Trusty old Tagan 480u, BFG 8800 GTS 512, Samsung F1 750 GB.

Don't mention mountain mods to Clunk. He says the quality is abysmal.

    Re: Which "Enthusiast" Case?

Well i shelled out and got the P182..

Its a nice case, slightly bigger than the Lian-Li, lots of nice little touches.. ovbiously its not as well built as the Lian-li is but it is quiet.

Only problem i have at the moment is the tri-cool fans... on their lowest setting theres usually not enough juice to get them spinning when powering them on so i have to keep them on medium... which of course makes the case not that quiet...

anyone else found this?. i might try splitting them onto a different psu rail and see if it helps

Can't say I came across that with either of mine. Worked perfectly on low. You can try that, hopefully it will work for you.
