Cheap cpu heatsink?

Looking for a cheap heatsink for my e8400, currently have the arctic 7 pro but i find its to loud. After getting a new case ive found that the gfx card and cpu fans are pretty loud and since my bfg cant be changed without voiding warranty id thought id try and reduce the cpu side. Id be lookign for a heatsink around £20 or less, i wont be overclocking so it doesnt need to be one of them high performers. ANy recommendations?

One of the little akasa towers is supposed to be alright. You could maybe retro fit a 120mm fan to the freezer.. I might so it myself as I agree it's too loud when the fan is working enough to cool. If you set the fan on the freezer to about 65% fixed in the bios you seem to get a half decent trade off for cooling and noise but .. its still a bit ..there.

Scythe Mine is a good one as well as the xigmatec tower. I can't think of any quiet cheapies as people normally want the performance as well lol

Havn't tried yet but that might work as long as it doesn't clip the blades.

well ill have a look tomorrow when i get time, got a couple of fan filters coming and a saitek cyborg mouse so will be having the side panel off so should loook then.

The Akasa one is the AK-965 x3, however I doubt that there will be any differnce over the ACf7p as both are 92mm fans, the main advantage it has is it's about £3-4 cheaper than the ACf7p

Cheap option is ofcourse to juryrig a 120mm to the ACf7p, try getting some plane black hairbands cut them once to form strips of elastic and melt the ends with a cigarette lighter to seal them.
I find this works better than stright elastic bands as the nylon cover protects the elastic and adds strength.

One thing you can do first is make sure your Smart fan settings have been set correctly in the BIOS (it'll be under Hardware Monitoring) if the smart fan has not been set then the fan on the ACf7p will be running at 100% constantly.

I was looking into replacing the fan on my arctic freezer pro 7 today actually.
What is the best way to do this and which fan would be best?

(One with blue LEDs would be best, and a 3 pin connector for my akasa fan control )

I use an Arctic Cooler Pro 7; its a good, cheap heatsink and should serve you well unless you plan on doing massive overclocks. It seems reasonably quiet to me, too.

You can get 120mm to 92mm adaptors as long as you have enough clearance in your case.

Your best bet is probably to get a passive cooler from the likes of Scythe or Thermalright

Or just get a Xigmantec and take the cooler off; just make sure you have decent airflow in your case.

I just got the Tuniq Tower 120 from OCuk for ~£25 (Its on this week only, however i got it 2 weeks ago for this price :|) and its brilliant. The only thing was the backplate had no padded sticker, soI had to make my own (annoyed me a bit, nevermind!) Comes witha PCI backplate so you can adjust from virtually silent -> a little noisy for max performace, have it at about 1500 rpm and its pretty quiet in my coolermaster 330 elite (only just fits though )!
