Seems to be a bit hit and miss whether you get a loud one or a quiet one, so think it's going to be the Corsair.. Thanks everyone.

The Enermax Modu82+ are pretty much the quietest at the moment according to SPCR.

    It certainly is.
Although saying that, as i have said before (sorry Mike), i can 10000% guarantee you would not notice any difference in noise between the high end units like these.

It come to down to power and price really. The Enermax, although the most expensive (by about a tenner) is the more powerful, better quality and more efficient unit.

Lol you know I won't argue with that ..you will notice a difference between the OCZ and the corsair (or enermax etc..) but I don't think thats what you meant.

    I know
OCZ are decent but i think the days of them being classed as high end units are gone.

    Re: Silent and reasonable PSU

Well I've got my new system up and running today with the old PSU. Had to connect using both the 2x10v and the 2x2v connector to get it to start up, but it's running. I'll see how the system behaves once I've got everything installed...

    Re: Silent and reasonable PSU

Not entirely convinced about the stability of my old PSU, so I took advantage of Scan's offer today and plunged for the Corsair 620HX for about £77... combined with a new Xigmatek 1283 cpu cooler to replace the stock intel one, I think I'm done with my hardware shopping for a while...

    Re: Silent and reasonable PSU

I wouldn't have thought the old PSU had a PCI-E connector either, and might be short on the SATA front too. Surprised no-one mentioned connectors as an issue.
