pc wont post(help :P)

Well basicly my system wont post or anything all that happens is the case fans etc start spinning up and the gfx card fan is at 100%, i had this issue at around 2am this morning, it wouldnt post but i just turned it off and waited till later (about 10ish) and it worked, it happened again after that though as i was moving some furniture so i turned off the pc and moved it, plgued it all back and it was having the same issue, after waiting about 5 hours it worked but now its completely dead.

I was wondering if any of you guys had a clue as to whats happened?. I havent changed anything at all, except for installing nod32(but it couldnt affect posting, only windows), having updated bios or gfx drivers its completely random.

reset cmos?

try booting with the barebones...

sorry forgot to mention ive tried reseting it by taking the battery out but no luck, checked all cables but nothing. This is really annoying especially when i need to send off the power supply tomorrow so its my last day to have a couple hours gaming

Reset cmos, insert SLOWER memory i.e. pc5300 and if that works u got the same problem as most P5K and lookin now Asus P5x series mobos which is it dont like some memory types with low latencies.

Let me know if it works then theres a list of bios settings that are SUPPOSIDLY to work.

I dont have any spare components, this system has been running strong since feb and its a p5n-d . Thanks for the advise though/

I aitn seen many of other P5x board with the problem i must say, mainly P5K boards. But ur symptoms seem exactly the same as mine.

Mine was also runnign smooth from last august till dec when it was being wierd and not posting with gfx card at 100&#37; fan speed.

nope , know one i know that has a slower speed ram stick. Ill try it with one stick ina bi and see if that works.


EDIT!!!: i took one out and it worked.... so could it be a faulty ram or just the board?>

Is it the "NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart" error?
Net says what's most likely going on is the BIOS either didn't look for the right drive, didn't find the right partition, it wasn't active, didn't find the MBR, or the MBR didn't list NTLDR in the right place, or the location of NTLDR changed.

Got more than one drive? Check your boot priority too etc to check right HDD is being booted from.

Why are you sending the PSU off? What make is it?

The fact that it boots after a long delay suggests some form of component failure rather than a misconfiguration. My first thought would have been overheating (might be worth checking the various heatsinks are still in place after moving it - but I'd like more details on the PSU...

the psu is more of personal issue with it being on 100% fan speed all the time, volts are stables last time i checked, its an xclio 700w. It booted fine now i took the ram out and put back in, all heatsinks are correctly placed and temps are normal. Atleast it works now lol.

These intermittent faults are hard to diagnose! Maybe just resetting the RAM and moving any other bits has solved it - a case of watch and wait, I think!

well today it all posted fine, did yesturday after a few reboots so i guess it could be a ram stick had a lost contact or something. Thanks for the help guys.
