    Logitech G5 vs. Logitech MX518

    Hello,

I am building a new pc, so expect some *critical* decision making queries from me.

My pc will be used for everyday internet and multimedia use as well as gaming. I have selected logitech G11 for the keyboard, but can't decide on the mouse. I don't want a wireless one so my choice is limited to MX518 and G5. The price difference between the two is only 5 pounds so I was wondering if the extra 5 is well spent or not.
According to the specs the G5 has 200Dpi more but 1 less button. Other wise it's more or less the same. Any suggestions?

Re: Logitech G5 vs. Logitech MX518

the g5 does not have the foward button just a back button which is a bit annoying but the main bonus of the g5 is the on the fly dpi change the two buttons just below the scroll wheel. This feature i find very useful in games so my choice is the g5. Talking from personal experience as i upgraded from mx518 to g5. But have to admit takes a bit of time to get used to not having a foward button when surfing the net (If you are used to one) Hope this helps

The new version does have one new thumb button. Does that mean the forward button has been implemented?

This thread was resolved months and months ago, why bother posting pointless advice?

Re: Logitech G5 vs. Logitech MX518

Bit of a revival there.. but I have to say I tried the new G5 with the new skin yesterday and it is horrible. Feels cheap and nasty, it's rough and has gone way down in my opinion.

    What's the new skin?
I have the one with the cracked blue and black bits, is that what you mean?

    Personally I love it

Re: Logitech G5 vs. Logitech MX518

Imo the g5's skin isn't as good as the steelseries ikari in terms of anti-sweat, with this mouse my hands do get a bit uncomfortable after a long gaming session. Still though, great mouse overall :d
