3.5" bay filler

I quite fancy putting an LCD of some sort into the bay of my Shuttle. My last Shuttle had a rheobus resplendent with blue LEDs but it was functionally useless as the fans stayed at the same speed all the time.

Anyone know of a good LCD to put in there or even an alternative item to put in the bay. Don't really need a card reader so don't suggest that

yeah, saw that gordy but reading the thread over at sudhian makes me a little worried about having to attack it a bit with a dremel or some other tool to get it to work with the USB header. Still looks like the best bet though

What Shuttle do you have ??
If you are thinking of wiring your own LCD then remember that it will porbably be Parrallel connection....just in case your Shuttle does not have a port
A 2x16 LCD will fit in a 3.5" easily, all you would need to do is make a bezel to go round it. 4x20 LCD will porbably be too big unless it is a small character display.
How about a couple of 6" Cold Cathodes behind the side grills with a couple of illuminated switches mounted on the 3.5" cover ??

its an SB65G2 and your suggestion about wiring and so on is above my current expertise level and way beyond my "free time to learn" level It's not a bad idea though

It's a group buy thing where everybody each buys one of the same LCD, plus any other LCD that they fancy (if they want another, that is). I'm planning on buying the graphical lcd, so I'd happily order a 3 1/2" bay lcd on behalf you. Would probably save you some money on p&p, if you're interested.
