My new ~ £700 build. Comments and thoughts please :)

All from Scan / Ebuyer. Won't buy elsewhere unless the price difference is worth it.

I wanted a quality and quiet PC which will perform well, overclock a decent amount and be within £650. This was my result. I've got a similar set-up at work and know the AC7 Pro is adequate for a Q6600 and I can use speedfan to lower the RPM on the AC7 Pro to balance noise and performance.

I also already have an wireless desktop 1000 in the room and know the mouse is very comfortable for me, and this is becoming very important as I'm more worried about RSI these days! The lack of cabing around my desktop is also an added bonus.

I also *love* the antec P182. I like the style and the build quality and doubt I can be persuaded to part with that unless it's something similar in the antec line and saves me cash.

Having used the corsair in my work PC, I'm also very fond of the VX series for their quality, performance and price. But what definitely consider alternatives if it's as good as and saves me a few quid.

I'm open to suggestions on the CPU, RAM, fans and coolers, graphics card, motherboard, hard drive, dvd drive.

    Anyway without further ado:

Please let me know your thoughts

Looks good, but I would switch the freezer 7 pro to the 120mm Xigmatech cooler and the mobo to the P5Q Deluxe

Good build. I agree with SIM on the cooler. Request them on scan today only and they come to about £17

Premium board is a bit overkill, the deluxe or even the -E represent better value for money.

I'd probably buy the 640GB AAKS instead of the samsung but they are both good drives.

Thanks for the link Ok having now visited the today only page (and using a P5K-E at work so I know it's decent ) I've settled on the following:

Can anyone quickly confirm the Xigmatek will fit in the P182 fine?

    Total cost £690.08 delivered

    Thanks for the suggestions.

The P5Q series are the newer P45 chipset, so should hold resale value more but there is hardly no difference in performance afaik

I was talking about the P5Q as well actually, mis-read the initial post. The P5K-e is a good board though. The premium doesn't cost that much though so might be worth it

The Xigmatec is fine in the P182

Shreks is a nice build but you can get 4GB of PC6400 for £50 and that is all you need for a Q6600, just a shame it doesn't have a motherboard

Ok all ordered, as per second list. Going through today only it actually came to about £675

Quite happy with the price considering the nice spec. Should hopefully clock to 3.6Ghz without too much trouble.

Re: My new ~ £700 build. Comments and thoughts please :)

To be honest I know I could've spent another £20 here, got a better PSU for X amount etc. But would I have seen any real world benefit? I doubt it. If It allows me overclock to 3.6Ghz, runs stable and fast and has all the connection ports I need and runs quietly and looks elegant then it does everything I want from it and I believe that's what I've got. Will post pics of the build in this thread once it's all arrived.
