Laptop Just for the Internet, As Cheap as possible

My aunt asked me to go up and fix her PC this evening, well when i got there i couldn't believe my eyes, she is still on dial-up internet (i though they stopped doing dial-up?). And she is running a computer with a 600Mhz Duron chip inside, slow wasn't the word and it seemed so loud too!

Anyway after fixing her computer we got talking about laptops and wireless broadband internet, she has asked me to find her a laptop just for the internet so I'm here to ask you guys if you know where i could get such a machine for around the £100-£200 price range, cheaper the better, but not one of them tiny little things please.

    Plenty of £200< laptops here.

I would however consider a small form factor pc here is an example.

Its another option at least. You can make use of the existing monitor or find a cheap lcd in the local paper or ebay etc

I'm sure if you posted a similar thread in "Find me a Bargain" there is certainly someone who probably knows of a good deal on either a laptop or sff pc at the moment. http://forums.hexus.net/find-me-bargain/

The laptops look ok, but most of them are used which puts me off a little

Morgan Computers sell a new notebook for £200:

    http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/sho...ProductID=4535

You will need to add another 256mb of ram but it should not cost much!

There is a better one for £250:

If you want new... I reckon you can expect to pay around £250?

Re: Laptop Just for the Internet, As Cheap as possible

I bought one earlier in the year for a family member, an Acer laptop, cost about £290. But ofc its brand new, if i was buying thats what i would go for tbh, i told the person i bought it for to keep it for 12 months and sell it on and upgrade to a new one with a new warranty, that way your always covered and in the long run you wont lose much in value each time.

    Acer Aspire 5315

Just go around the usual stores, Comet, Curry's, PC World, Tesco's etc, you will no doubt find something.
