Can I use ECC RAM in a non-ECC board?

Basically, I bought an HP Proliant ML110 a little while ago, and upgraded this with 4GB of Corsair (non-ECC) Ram, and that's running wonderfully.
However, I also have an old Dell OptiPlex GX620 (Pentium D job) which has 2x512MB of RAM in there at the moment.
I was wondering if it would be possible to install the 1GB stick, pulled from the ProLiant, and add it to the 1GB that's already in the GX620. I know Dual-Channel and ECC won't work, that's a given, but I really only want it for the extra RAM capacity, so wanted to know whether it was possible or inadvisable for some reason?

    Thanks guys,

    FS
