Netbook or Notebook for around £300

Hi all, as title really, what would be the best buy a netbook or a notebook, i'd want to use it for browsing and light word processing and some software development using Visual Studio Express possibly some other dev tools. Speed isn't a major issue within reason although i would like something small and portable so that i can take it travelling more easily next year so the netbook wins at this.

Anyway i look forward to hearing what people have to say

    Thanks

    Andy

Well the notebook would have to be a dual core to make it a sizeable improvement over the the 1.8 celerons that swamp the £300 crowd.

I would say if you actually intend on using it for a long period of time and typing/coding on it I would aim for the MSI wind.

I quite like the dell though

I was thinking about the Samsung NC10 that's available soon on eBuyer, looks like a nice little netbook and the size of the hard drive looks good, I'd be able to take most of my essential mixes with me

Yeah the samsung would probably get my money as well, might want to consider getting a second gig of RAM for it only going to cost you ~£11.50 so a worthwhile investment in my eyes.

Re: Netbook or Notebook for around £300

I pre-ordered the Samsung NC10 from ebuyer a few days ago. It looks like much better value than the Wind when you factor in the 6-cell battery and the 160GB HDD.

I thought it was a bit daft that eBuyer sent me an out-of-stock message for a pre-order item though.
