    120,140 fans

    Hi,

I've had my CM690 for 5 or so months now, it sits on my desk next to me and begun to get annoyed on how noisy the fans are!

Could someone please advise which is the best 120 or 140 (takes both) fans for quietness but also cheap lol

    thanks in advice

    Re: 120,140 fans

The supplied Coolermaster fans should be very quiet, most likely you have the side fan issue, loosen the screws or do anything to put a bit of distance between the fan and side panel grill (washers will do fine too, 4mm thick distance is ideal.

    Re: 120,140 fans

There have been issues esp with the side panel fans, basically the large panel forms a resonance board causeing sound vibrations to be amplified, which resaults in a fan on the side panel being more noisy than if that same fan is mounted in the top, back or front.

Also did you add any additional fans? or are you just running with the original 3 that came with the case?

    Re: 120,140 fans

I have one of these in my CM690, http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Zalma...Fan-Controller

but i am running a couple of the 2000rpm sharkoon fans in my case aswell as the coolermaster ones, with them all turned down it's very quiet, but the side fan is a coolermaster and it does make a fair bit of noise. I would definitely try loosening the screws to the side panel fan first and putting some rubber washers on it for space though as that does make the most noise of three coolermaster fans that i have in there.

    Re: 120,140 fans

Fixed the side fan issue on my CM690 by screwing in a fan grill nice and tight Now running 7*120mm (including CPU fan) and 1*140mm fans in my CM690 and using a fan controller (NZXT Sentry LX) and all is very quiet. Its on the floor beside me rather than on the desk mind.
