    Quick PSU recommendation check

As my antec psu has decided to conk out I need a new PSU, and given the time of year and the amount I would need to spend ond shipping to use the warranty I have decided to get an 'upgrade'
Pretty much narrowed it down to these 2

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/112899 - Hiper 530W Black Type M
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135159 - OCZ Stealth Xtream 500W

I get the impression the OCZ is slightly higher quality but the Hiper is modular so not really sure which one to go for.

    Thanks, Olie

    P.s It's a Giagabyte 965 board with a 7600GT and a 6300 Core2
The case is an Antec Sonata II, I presume both would fit in there fine though.

    Re: Quick PSU recommendation check

People have mixed commends on the hiper, I have the same model as above and its still going strong after 2 years.
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

Any decent branded 350W+ PSU would be fine, just depends on how much you are wanting to spend.

    Re: Quick PSU recommendation check

the whole thing with Hiper was their older brand of PSUs and some of their newer ones, but i've had mine about a month now and it actually seems better than the Corsair that i had.

    Re: Quick PSU recommendation check

The Stealth Xtream is the budget range from OCZ and are not as good as there Game Xtream or Power Xtream ranges.
Although it will be good enough for your needs.

What id you have in there? I'm guessing ether the antec earthwatts 380w or 430w
I would rma it, even if you do buy a replacement, it'll give you a spare psu
I think Antec have a UK address for RMA so the postage shouldn't be too high.

    Here's a corsair to consider

    Thanks

I think I'll be getting the Corsair 400w, though it's the lowest power it is the cheapest and seems to be of a higher quality standard.

I've got an Antec Smartpower 450w, I would RMA it normally, but given the postage issues at this time of year I just don't have time. I will probably check out how much it would cost to see if it's worth getting a spare supply.
