Thanks for the impression. It's been a while since I followed Head-Fi closely (it wasn't healthy for my wallet ).

Even though I've yet to try Dolby Headphone for games, I actually find CMSS in games a bit distracting (I seem to play better with it off for some reason). My headphones does allow for a huge sound stage so I have no real complaint in that area.

I've not tried CMSS with music. I tend to listen to music in Audio Creation mode (purist in me ), so that mean no DSP. I may give it a shot sometime though.

But yeah, I always watch my movies with CMSS on (in Entertainment mode - which sounds different from the one used in Gaming mode). I very impressed by how immersive it feels especially in conjunction of my headphones (AKG-701).

Creative really need to make a true successor to the original X-Fi with surround digital out (apparently older Audigy could do that), Dolby Headphones etc.

I wouldn't advise it. Dolby Headphone can be set up to simulate listening to stereo speakers, which is how most commercial music is mastered. CMSS3D headphone unavoidably does some upmixing of music over the virtual surround speakers.

If you're a purist, I'm pretty sure you won't like CMSS-3D headphone for music listening. Still - may as well try anything once.
