Yep, Remove power cable, swap the jumper over, wait 5min, do it a couple of times to be sure.

Oh, don't know where I got 80c from lol.
As for the HT fail warning, I think it just means CMOS settings are incorrect - go through the menus and set the clock speeds correctly. Post more photos if you need any help.
Edit: go into BIOS and select 'Load Optimized Defaults' then save + exit. Should be OK now.
I think it's 80c on intell core2duo

if they still are not working, It may be fixed by updateing the bios, however I'd be tempted to RMA it, contact Scan they'll sort you out
RMA it - whats does that mean ?
Loaded optimal defaults in BIOS and fans still not working

Would be "Return Merchandise Authroisation". Fancy term for sending it back to Scan as its faulty.
Linky for you... http://web6.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Suppor...px?QueryType=R
So, do I:
- Have a go at updating the BIOS (may need some help here!)
- Ring Scan and ask for help
- Just send the Mobo back as faulty?
Is there anything else I can try - I've not loaded the disc the Mobo came with, would this do any good?
Help, as always, appreciated
Paul
Give SCAN a call, explain the situation and more than likely they will issue you an RMA number. More than likely they will send a courier to you to collect the item; just box it up nicely and take note of the serial number of your motherboard (and any other components SCAN request to have sent back). Also don't forget to attach a bit of paper in the box with the RMA number on.
Then it is a waiting game for SCAN to test and give you a diagnosis.
Cheers - I'm going to try and update the BIOS prior to giving scan a ca - just buffing up on how to do it now - any tips?
Right - re-flashed the BIOS - to no avail (i do get a beep now during bootup) - set the BIOS setting back to default, cleared the CMOS header again - all to no avail.
I'm going to stop tinkering now and call scan - the CPU temp was getting dangerously high towards 70 degrees !!
Marvellous
Will let you know how I get on
Paul
Have you tried testing for voltage at the fan header with a multimeter? I had a quick look through the thread but, could not see which board you have.
I'm assuming this is your motherboard: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Biost...-SATA-RAID-ATX correct me if it's not - it's very important you don't use the wrong BIOS update. You can download the update from here: http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us...s.php?S_ID=376 on the page there is a link for the update and next to it a link for an instruction manual - download this and have a read through it. It's a Windows-based updater so you shouldn't need to create and boot CDs or anything. Don't turn of you PC or even touch the keyboard/mouse while the BIOS is being updated, it will probably tell you this anyway.
Edit: Sorry, posted this before I read your post saying you've already done it lol
Watercooled - yes, that is the Motherboard - I've not got windows installed yet - working from the BIOS only - have reflashed the BIOS using a USB stick as shown in the manual - seemed to go ok, no errors reported.
I've spoken to scan and they've suggested I send back the motherboard, with the CPU insitu and the stock fan.
I dont know if there is anything else I can try, I'm concerned at the temps the CPU is reaching (high 60's after a few mins of running / reflashing bios). I havent got a multimeter to check the voltage, but i know the CPU fan is definately working as I've quickly plugged it into the working fan header.
I hope I havent done anything wrong, the only thing the guy from scan mentioned was to check that the BIOS wasnt controlling the fans automatically (which they are not) and that they had had quite a few problems with the new Phenom II x4 CPU's / Motherboards.
Not a great start to my computer building experience - just my luck
Paul
Yeah it does sound like a faulty board. I forgot you didn't have Windows installed, but glad you managed to do it anyway. Hope you get it sorted soon mate
Not something I wanted to hear as I have an AM2+ board on order.
Had you tried plugging another fan onto the cpu header to see if there was any power getting there?
I remember some years ago the high power fans on performance coolers could melt the tracks on most motherboards except Abit ones(which had a heavier track).
When you plugged the CPU fan onto the header what was the wire colour nearest to the CPU ?
Do let us know how you get on. Best of luck with it.

Yes - tried the system case fan onto the CPU header - fan did not work. The black wire was on pin 1 as described in the motherboard manual. If it's not faulty, I'm doing something fundamentally wrong
Scan are collecting the Mobo and CPU tomorrow, all safely packaged with the RMA details inside - hope they get round to testing and (hopefully) replacing soon - I cant wait to get the system up and running (and restore my faith in self build ) I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.
..........Watch this space.......and thanks for your help to date
