I'm talking about the value aspect, not how much cheaper or more expensive it this. For the price you get a brilliant chip that overclocks really well. Great price for a quad.
Good thing I got my Q6600 secondhand for under £80!!
Got it in January. I was pretty surprised TBH to get it for this price. I managed to sell my E4500 for £60. Once I deducted the sale costs the upgrade only cost me £30!! This is what I had been planning do when I built my system just over two years ago. It seems the gamble paid off for me!!
Sometimes upgrading like this really pays off. If you can sell on ebay and buy on a forum you are likely to make a nice and easy upgrade path spending very little. I've done this a few times with my graphics cards. If you know when the price drops are due and you can sell just before - It's great
I got mine on Ebay!! I just had a word with the seller. Got a few things cheaper that way.
I even managed to get some rarer bits like a Sytrin KuFormula VF1 Plus which I do not use anymore.
I bought it more out of curiosity than anything else. Tried it on a madly overclocked 8500GT:

I went from 459mhz for the core to 715mhz and from 918mhz for the shaders to 1400mhz!! Even the GDDR2 could overclock from 800mhz to a 1000mhz!!
I wonder if it will suffer from certain heat related issues which afflicted the G84 and G86 chips??
