    Weekly Best Buy Thread

I know this isn't technically hardware but i notice that everyweek there are lots of ive got £*** what should i buy threads.
Now i was wondering if we should set up a thread that has the best buy of that week for certain amounts like £350, £600, £850 etc.
Now i know it wouldn't solve everyone as some people want gaming or others HTPC but wouldn't it cut down on some of them and help alot of people.

Truth be told, i think some people like the "what should i buy with my £5 pocket money" questions.

    Re: Weekly Best Buy Thread

It's been tried a few times and always goes the same way unless the person creating the thread is dedicated enough to keep it updated.

Even I have kept myself clear of such a thread as it gets a little dull. I prefer the question threads so we can just tailor a build to a specific person and their budget

If it was a weekly HEXUS maintained feature though, and we simply contributed our thoughts.. that would be something very different.

    Re: Weekly Best Buy Thread

I suggested this last year, and many others before me, i reckon if a few of us got together and organized it, maybe a proper hexus page, with a nice layout would make it a success, more recognition for hexus too

    Re: Weekly Best Buy Thread

As someone who has just been blessed with the wisdom of hexus, I would say it was a good idea, but I think that perhaps people would still start question threads as they would want specially tailored systems to spend their money on. Plus it feels alot nicer having personal suggestions

Perhaps then we'll have to see if the guys at Hexus would do one and like Mike said we contribute out thoughts.

But most people don't say "I want to buy any random computer related object for £x", so what's the point?

I think you have to change Buy into Buys. And then it becomes a lot of work.

    Re: Weekly Best Buy Thread

Sorry guys; love the idea, but I don't see that it's practical: it would be near enough a full time job to take a weekly comparison of all component types across all etailers and put together a report just on pricings, let alone trying to make some kind of objective decision on which one is best to buy; the listings would be out of date within a day or two as stock came in and out and etailers changed their prices; and each thread would probably devolve into a discussion of why some other manufacturer's product is *actually* a better buy despite costing 10% more.

Besides, the current system of people starting threads if they need advice on building to a budget works, and IMNSHO is quite fun, too.

    Re: Weekly Best Buy Thread

How about best budget builds of the week? For example a £300, a £500 and a £750 build for general use with an option of AMD or Intel cpus?
