    Transmitting Audio!!!!!!!!

Here's a good one or ya!

I have a beasty sound system in my living room downstairs AND on my computer, upstairs. I threw a party bout a week back, which went pretty damn fine. BUT i started to get a bit OCD with the mix of sounds in the house.

I've looked over a few options but i dont really know what im looking for. BASICLY i want to be able to get the sound thorugh the system downstairs AND have it playin up here. Would a radio transmiter do the trick? If so which one????

Im thinking along the line of the iTrip, but i know that when you plug it in it take up an audio port which cuts out sound. Can i have both playing?>?? and if so... HOW?!

And are there any 'rules' in the UK about bordcasting? As i know the iTrip doesnt go very far, but some of these pieces might?

Also, would it be able to transmit ALL sounds the PC makes? (i want it to)

Sorry for the excentric-ness... i've been alone in this DAMN house for a week, 3 weeks left (everyone went home for uni break) Noone's left... CRAZY!

    Re: Transmitting Audio!!!!!!!!

I dont know what your budget is here, but if you want something really nice then get an amp with multi-room support (this would mean cables though) and its pretty hefty on the price front (min £500). Not sure about radio transmission.

How about a Squeezebox? Although it won't be exactly in synch between the two systems.

    Re: Transmitting Audio!!!!!!!!

How about a laptop with remote desktop and bring the sound to laptop then plug in down stairs?
Personaly though if i have a party i bring the PC to the living room as it sounds better than the laptop
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

    This.

Though, yes, you can get it perfectly in sync between rooms, floors, etc.

There was a large change to the way syncing works in SqueezeCenter 7.3, basically the whole system was re-written, making it much more reliable.

I set up a SB3, Controller and a Reciever in my parents place last night, using a N5200 NAS box. synced just fine. Need to add another couple of players at some point too.

Surely there's a slight delay while the signal is encoded, transmitted and decoded?

    Nope.

From a recent discussion on the SlimDevices forum (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpo...1&postcount=29)

It is more complex but that should give you the gist.

None of that is actually related to gapless, which refers to the ability to start one track after another with 0 silent samples between them (other than those that are part of the tracks themselves). Synchronization is related to gapless because, without the mechanism mentioned above, synchronized gapless playback (or long tracks/streams) would not be practical.

Yes, it works with internet radio (but only via SC, not SqueezeNetwork).
Of course this is assuming the source of the music is SqueezeCenter, not an analogue feed that is also being played through a convensional system. The OP doesn't say where the music is coming from, I took it to mean a collection of CD players /iPods/computers/laptops/etc around the house, so there was different music in different rooms, causeing horrible sound betwen them.
