i say not, i got a similar system (rig) and runs everthing fine. i got a geforce 440, which is C**p at games, but u got a FX5950, which should run most games fine. i would wait for new stuff. PCi express-64bit INTEL- DDR2, when these come out, other stuff like amd64 3200 will be cheap.
but if u loaded with cash, go for it.
but thats just me...

Cheers anyway, I was just looking at the 2500 as it was only £50-60 which seems a good deal considering how much it overclocks
yeah, for overclocking its good, but performance it isnt good as a athlon XP 3200+.
Why not chuck another tenner at it and pick up a 2500M from cpucity, might get you 2.5ghz on nice cooling plus its multiplier unlocked so you could keep that PC2700 for a while longer
Nah - although its a T-Bred B the multiplier is locked so I can only up the FSB - causing instability over 2GhzOriginally Posted by 0iD
So I figured getting rid and replacing with something more 'clockable'
hmmmm temptingOriginally Posted by daniel_owen_uk

what..., thats big, u water cool?
It is when it's at 11x200 - exactly the same as an XP3200+Originally Posted by serlex
I get 2.6GHz on air quite easily with my XP-M (could probably get 2.7 without much hassle) but it's rather noisy cooling that.
any one got this months 'Custompc' mag, they say that AMD put 'super-locking' on the barton cpus, so its no longer possible to change the multiplier.
They did that about week 39/40 last year.Originally Posted by serlex
There is a way around it on certain mobos (involves making the board think that it is a Mobile) but nobody has yet found a way for that to work on nForce2 boards.
On the other hand all XP-M's are unlocked which is 1 of the reasons that people are using those now.
