    11.6" Netbooks any good?

Are the 11.6" Netbooks any good?

I currently have a new 10" Netbook which i find too small for my use. I am looking at selling it and buying either a 11.6" netbook or failing that getting a cheap 14" Laptop.

I believe the Samsung NC20 (12.1 inch screen so a bit bigger than most netbooks) is supposed to be very good. It also uses the VIA Nano CPU which is faster then the Atom especially for multimedia but it does draw slightly more power but still has 6.5hrs claimed battery life! The CPU is also 64 bit if it matters to you (although I think the OS is still 32 bit) and some of the specs are available here and here. Just type NC20 into Google for plenty of reviews, one of the first is a PCPro one: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/lapto...0/samsung-nc20

The better media performance is down to the better Chrome9 onboard graphics over the aged GMA950, the new VIA cpu is better than there old one but still lags slightly behind the atom.
Our benchmarks largely agreed too, with the NC20 scoring 0.40. That leaves the NC20 a little behind the NC10 and its 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270, but it's still an impressive debut for VIA's latest arrival, and especially so considering its lower clockspeed.

Do you mean a 10" screen or 10" case? (a netbook with a case that measures 10" will have a 9" or 7" screen)
I'm guessing screen, if so then I very much doubt the extra inch will be of much impact to you.
One of te major selling points of a netbook is it's small size which makes it very portable, so the thing you're going to have to ask yourself is why you want it?

To put it simply if you go larger you lose the portability so you might as well get an actual laptop.

The reviews I've read put the Nano a good way in front of the Atom in terms of performance. Different benchmarks I guess in which case they are probably very similar in reality.

    Re: 11.6" Netbooks any good?

What is the screen size difference between a 11.6 and a 12.1? Is it .5?

Would that be noticeable? I can't check as nobody has any where i live!!
