    Silent, Modular PSU Recommendations

My Enermax Modu82+ 425w PSU blew up, it was pretty much perfect, quieter than my Corsair HX 520w, and had modular cables to boot.

Unfortunately ebuyer no longer stock these, so I have had my account credited with £55 and am willing to spend another £20 on top, if need be.

I had a quick look but I have no experience with the other PSU brands (Be Quiet, Lian Li, Coolermaster, etc)

So in short, I primarily need a quiet PSU with modular cables, not costing more than £75 and from ebuyer.

    Many thanks in advance.

My HX520W is pretty much silent unless you happened to have a noisy one!!

I would think that the Corsair HX450W would do the job!!

It also costs around £52 and comes with a 7 year warranty:

My Corsair HX520 is quiet, its not at all noisey but it still wasn't as quiet as my Enermax. I'm inclined to go with that Be Quiet Dark Power Pro but £88 is really pushing it for me.

The HX450W would be ideal for your setup as the Be Quiet! PSU would be OTT for your power requitements!

    Re: Silent, Modular PSU Recommendations

Sounds like you had a good experience with Enermax so I found this which was almost within your budget.

    Edit:

Whoops, not modular, I'm an idiot.

Can't really find anything better then the HX series, ebuyers selection isnt particularly comprehensive (not that HX series are bad PSU's of course)

I’m not convinced with the Corsair HX series, I have one already and like I say the Enermax was quieter, I'm not saying the HX was loud, it was also quiet, but im looking for something a bit more special, maybe I have very sensitive hearing - but do consider this case is going on my desk, roughly 50cm away from me, I already have a scythe shuriken which is practically inaudible and two Noctua P12s running at low voltage. The system is almost silent, the 5770 is the only thing I can hear, and will almost certainly replace the stock fan when something better is available.

I think I may have to go with the Dark Power Pro, sure its 550w and a 250w PSU would be more than enough for my system but it has a liquid bearing fan, and silence is the key here.

The PSU is made by Enhance and seems to be well regarded:

    http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling...oc.aspx?i=3402

    http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=620

    http://www.cpu3d.com/review/5161-1/c...roduction.html

    http://www.thinkcomputers.org/index....reviews&id=985

    http://www.thinkcomputers.org/index....reviews&id=985

It seems that the PSU is very quiet too so it seems like the one for your.

Regarding the HX series you must remember that different models are made by different OEMs so some models maybe better than others for noise.

    Re: Silent, Modular PSU Recommendations

If possible give us a little user review of the PSU when you get it as it looks very good value for money. It maybe a PSU worth recommending in situations when the HX450W won't be powerful enough.
