    Good memory deal

Ok birthday money is burning a hole in my wallet and I have ~£82 on RAM. I saw this. Worth it? or is it best to just go with 1600mhz c7-8?

    Re: Good memory deal

TBH, I wouldn't even bother with 1600MHz RAM unless the price difference was tiny....plus Intel systems don't seem to benefit much from faster RAM (and can cause heat issues due to how the voltage for the RAM works now) and a number of AMD DDR3 systems will not work with RAM set > 1066MHz.

Your system specs show a DDR2 motherboard though, DDR3 will not fit. If you have changed your system recently, what motherboard do you have?
    Main PC: Asus Rampage IV Extreme / 3960X@4.5GHz / Antec H1200 Pro / 32GB DDR3-1866 Quad Channel / Sapphire Fury X / Areca 1680 / 850W EVGA SuperNOVA Gold 2 / Corsair 600T / 2x Dell 3007 / 4 x 250GB SSD + 2 x 80GB SSD / 4 x 1TB HDD (RAID 10) / Windows 10 Pro, Yosemite & Ubuntu

It's about £12 cheaper than scan and has potential to land you with some large import fees!

There is that. The guy says I am willing to declare lower value but that seems slightly completely illegal to me

It is, you could get away with it, but it's not worth the risk for £12 IMO.

    1. If it dies before the end of it's warranty you might have trouble
    2. You will probably get charged import fees, plus an administration fee by Royal Mail
    3. It's only £12
    4. It will take a lot longer to come than from SCAN

Oh right, just that nightkaos mentioned issues with too much heat being produced at > 1600mhz, i guess at 1.6v volts it can't be too bad?

Its no so much the speed, but the volts as you mentioned, G.skill do 1600MHz RAM that runs @ 1.35v. Get the Geil kit and just run them at 1333MHz and lowish latencies such as 7-7-7-20 - for example.

If you was going to be overclocking anyway you'd have the RAM set to 800MHz (lowest ratio for GD65) and 1.5v and let it overclock from there knowing its still going to function at least up to 1066 @ 1.5v while you bash away pushing up the CPU clock and voltage.
