Very sorry Ulti, didn't realise you'd already given the MSI 770 board a shout

Nice setup, but just so you know, the 4870/90 both beat the 5770. Welcome to AM3 my friend
Also, the 500GB F3 is an inspired choice, good drive!
I always recommend that board whenever it's in stock as CAT does too
It's out of stock quite often though and has risen in price by a few £s since I last checked when it was in stock. I guess the board is very popular.
Sometimes you may get the blue black version though instead of this red black one but in my opinion blue black looks nicer but each to their own choice. Obviously for those with a case under their desk or a case with no side window it won't matter.
The HD4870 1GB and HD5770 1GB are around the same in performance TBH:

The HD4890 is faster than both. The HD5770 has the advantage of DX11 and lower power consumption but they are all decent graphics cards and the HD4870 1GB has the advantage of being cheaper.

I am constantly left in awe of CAT's product knowledge.
Do you look up components for each thread individually or are you just that aware of the hardware on the market for your own interest?
Forgive me if I'm infringing on personal information, I've just seen many posts with an enormously broad range of products.

Fair one, reviews vary, read that the 5770 suffers quite badly from it's lack of memory bandwidth, I'm just a little underwhelmed with the 57** series really as I was hoping they'd be good to go in the wife's rig Maybe when the price comes down and all the 4890's are gone they'll be a better choice. Unless you're power conscious that is.
Lol!
There was a time when I was the same, but once I had my last gaming rig built, I stopped looking, both because I was busy actually playing games with beautiful graphics and I didn't want to inspire any more purchases by window shopping for at least six months after spending a grand, lol.
There is a review here on Hexus with a performance comparison between several ATI and Nvidia cards which I found fairly enlightening:

The prices are now severely inaccurate in some cases I've found, which skews the "bang4buck" somewhat, but it's still useful for a rough idea.

Actually the HD5770 and HD4870 are more or less the same in performance it seems:

Whats the nVidia equivilent to the 4870?
GTX260 > 9800GT. Right?
(Sorry for hijacking the thread )
Yes. There are also two different versions of the card!! However since the HD5770 and the HD4890 are usually cheaper than the GTX260 nowadays it is overpriced. The HD5770 has similar performance but has DX11,lower power consumption and is usually cheaper whereas the HD4890 is considerably faster and is still cheaper.
In your case I would go with an HD5770.
