    Motherboard choices

Ok I am going for a Am2+ Motherboard and see that on Scans today only the Asus M3A78-T, AMD 790GX is only £50 odd pounds, I am wondering if this board is actually worth getting if you dont want to actually use the onboard graphics (got a 4870) or would I be better off with something like a Gigabyte MA770-UD3, AMD 770 which is about the same price at the moment?

    Re: Motherboard choices

The CPU would be a Phenom II 965 BE.
Sadly I was adviced that I would actually have to pay for the Bios to be flashed on the boards to even get them to boot up with the CPU so I may have to wait a while longer before getting either.

Err advised by? Who would you be paying? As long as the mobo supports it you just download the bios from asus and flash it yourself

Buy the cheapest CPU on the compatibility chart if the 965BE won't boot, use it to flash the BIOS and then sell it on eBay or keep it for future occurences of the same problem...

    Re: Motherboard choices

The Flash would be done by scan it only works out at around £11.75 which I guess is not too bad just knocks a bit of the savings from the Motherboard being on today only offer is all. Certainly not really worth chasing down another cpu for that price I dont think.
So I guess between the two motherboards and the 965 BE which would you say is the better of the two? Remember the onboard graphics has no meaning to me though
