New system not powering up? Help!

Just built a system as follows into my coolermaster 110 which originally had my aging P3 rig:

    Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
    P4 3.4 Northwood
    Tagan PSU - TG480-U01 480W Silent PSU
    1 Gig Ram - Corsair 512mb x 2 - TwinX Pair

The motherboard led lights up and the powersuply seems to be on but when pressing the power button nothing happens. I have tried to see if the power switch is in the correct socket and the correct way round but it still doesn't boot up.

I have also tried booting up with out the RAM and CPU and tried changing the RAM in different slots.

It is now really stressing me out as I do not have any other parts to text if the others are faultly as this is a major upgrade from my P3.

Any help at all would be appeciated as I am getting stressed out now.

So you're absolutely sure the Power connector is on the right place in the motherboard?

You want to check that all the jumpers on the motherboard are in the right place, especially the CMOS.

Also, does nothing at all happen i.e. no fans, beeping, just press the power and nothing?

Have you tried the power button on all the pins?
    Reset the CMOS
    Boot with 1xRAM, 1xHDD, 1xCPU, 1xMOBO, 1xGFX (no opticle or PCI devices.)
Find a mate who can test parts....?

have you connected up the case power button wire(s) to the correct headers on the mobo. I built a mates comp last week and put one of the wires on the header next to where it was meant to go. Took me bout 30mins to figure out what id done. durrr.

    edit: beat me to it

I think the power wire is in the correct pins. Does matter which way it is? I have tried it both ways anyway.

Do I just take the battery out and put it back in to reset the cmos? Will look in the manual also to see if the jumpers on the motherboard are correct now also.

None of my mates a own a pentium 4 system either so I can't try that.

Thanks for all the help. Hopefully it will be a silly mistake of mine, not a fault part.

If I remember correctly, on most motherboards, you set the CMOS jumper to clear for a few seconds, then set it back to normal to reset the CMOS. Not completely sure though.
