    HTPC Graphics Advice

Hi guys, need a bit of helps in the graphics department :3

Im looking to build my parents some what of a general PC for browsing the web, e-mails and some video play back. I've got some old parts from my last build but I need a new motherboard mATX and maybe a graphics card with HDMI out that can carry audio as well.

    Been looking at this: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Gigab...41MF-US2H-MOBO

Does it have enough graphic power to playback video at 1080p and does it output audio on the HDMI?

Or should I be looking at a discrete option?

    Thanks again :3

I guess this could do 1080p but I'm not sure. I know that intel have issues outputting 24p if thats what you were intending to watch. Personally I would go with either a 780g and upwards motherboard for the integrated graphics for 1080p only, if you were looking at 1080i also or in the future then I would go for an ati 5450 and upwards discrete as this can do vector adaptive deinterlacing which is the best form of accelerated deinterlacing available on a pc

FYI my AMD system which uses a 5050e CPU and 780V IGP can do 1080p without breaking into a sweat, around 30% CPU utilisation when running the Robotica WMV HD test video.

    Re: HTPC Graphics Advice

Thanks, opps sorry, should have said the parts I already have from my old system. C2D E6600 and 4GB 4x1GB sticks. Anyone know for sure that the HDMI on the motherboard can output audio?

Been trying to use google but all i am getting are mixed views about the chipset. Some say it should be fine, others recommend a discrete card. No one seems to have any first hand experience.

Hey, would you mind testing with:

    Samsung.Demo.Oceanic.Life.x264.1080p.40Mbps.mkv

    File is easily Googleable...

    Thanks.

+1, I could only find results on, err, questionable sites. If you know of an alternative with a legit link I'd be happy to try it out.
