CPU temps, what have i done wrong?

Yeah if it's not completely flat that could definitely have something to do with it, and possibly have something to do with one sensor being hotter than the other. Can you see any indications of uneven mounting in the thermal paste when you remove the waterblock i.e. thicker on one side than the other?

Well i took the motherboard out and tightened the plate, replaced the ek block and no difference in temps. I then replace that with my old polarflo tt block and well the temps only rose 1-2C!. I dont believe a block from 2004 in bad condition can perform similarly to a brand new top of the line block >.<.

Thermal paste looked pretty even to be honest, gunna shove the ek block back on now and just leave it i think.

was the test matching your system ? low restriction cpu block, rad and 18w pump in the loop ?

i went for a lower restriction block (koolance) 350 to 360 and got a total change of sod all temp wise lol

just £40 out of pocket after flogging taktak the 350.

got any good old arctic silver to try ?

consider yourself lucky with a 2 degree drop.

really? I know its a temp difference but how can it be so high still for a silly 45nm dual core, maybe i do need another pump . Or maybe it simply is the stupid motherboard not liking the temperature thing.

Oh well, it is quiet i have to admit . Maybe it will change when i move to bulldozer next year haha.

I'm thinking the temp sensors are probably just inaccurate, what is the value for CPU_Temp rather than core temps?

how do i check that value? i must be blind as i cant see it in the settings, do you mean the difference between delta and tj?

usually the one in the bios, everest will also tell u

oh thats what i was using , when i replaced the block i used the bios to compare (i checked the ek block aswell).

Coretemp is correctly getting the information but its whether or not the bios/motherboard is actually reporting the correct temps, this was one of the biggest issues with the 45nm chips when released (much like the iphones antenna problem ). Atleast performance isnt reduced since it should stay cool still.

None of the sensors on my AMD 1055T are read correctly, core temp is about 9C idle on air cooling IIRC.
