As a former Dell Latitude E6400 owner I can say you won't be disappointed with the E6400, best note book I’ve ever owned.

The removable optical drive bay will indeed accommodate a 2.5" drive with the appropriate adaptor but not a battery like the D series. Instead there is the battery slice, a flat secondary battery that attaches to the bottom of the E6400, having one of these plus the 9-Cell battery will give you 10+ hours of juice.

Yeah i looked at the slice battery and its just to big, adds around 1.5CM to the overal thickness which is pretty much 1/2 the battery thickness added to it in total which is to much . Battery life should be enough for me anyways as im not far from a plug most times.

Glad these notebooks are highly regarded, means ive made the right choice .
