    Re: will my PSU be enough for a 285 GTX?

    yep esp with only a dual core cpu

    HX = modular
    TX = non-modular

    if your psu is non-modular then it's probably the TX550w still it should say on the side in BIG letters

    When I ran some test it was ~350w under load using a plug in meter.

    Re: will my PSU be enough for a 285 GTX?

    Personally I'd not bother with an aftermarket cooler, esp if it's the stock gtx275 cooler, nvidia tend to over engineer their stock coolers (well they did, not so sure about some of the newer cards) and the gtx275 ran cool for the 2xx series

    gtx260 for £85 is bad value for money nowadays. You should try and haggle down to £55-£60.

    Re: will my PSU be enough for a 285 GTX?

    I bought the gtx 260 and it is in very god condition and doesn't heat up as much as the 8800gtx. Cant wait to sit down and play with it later. My only worry is that it looked hard to take the case off to clean as the screws are under the stickers.. Thanks for the help guys..

    Re: will my PSU be enough for a 285 GTX?

    Don't take the plastic cover off, esp with the stock cooler the plastic cover also have a guide channel, a blower works by spinning the air and letting the centrifugal force throw it out sideways, it works in the same way as a centrifugal pump

    It relies on the guide channel to keep the air spinning and being pushed in the right direction.

    If you removed the cover you'd be left with this

    Without the guide the blower would move less air and very weakly out in all directions and almost none would be pushed through the coolers fins.

    Pob thanks for the reply. I have been using the card and its not as powerful as I thought. At 24 inch its a little laggy guess it will have to do..
