    Unhappy ABIT NF7-s sound: is this normal?

    Alright all, I,ve got my onboard sound from my NF7-s going through my amp and out through my speakers using the line out from the computer. When I play Cd's through the CD-RW on the PC I get no levels on the equaliser in the nforce control panel, or through winamp so cannot adjust levels, volumes are ok but no eq. alls ok if I play MP3's or midi files. am I just being stupid? have I set it up wrong? or is it to do with the Amp on the stereo??
    Slightley confused

    Are you using digital auto from the CDROM or analogue (if your using XP its probably digital).
    Also are your speakers analogue or digital ?

    I'm going to get one of these creative 5.1 setups from Ebuyer on payday, but the lead from my cd-rom to the onboard need to be digital then??

    Don't get creative whatever you do!

    Digital audio doesn't use the audio cable, it is basically "ripped" at 1x from the CD drive down the IDE cable.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Sorted it last night changed it from analog to digital in the CD-ROM properties, now get mix levels through soundstorm, but not via winamp, so my plugins like g-force don't pick up any sound, and no levels, does one program take presidence over the other?

    Have you enabled hardware acceleration in winamp ?

    options->preferences->output->Directsound->configure->Allow hardware acceleration

    I'm at work at the Moment so can't check, but pretty sure that I had turned it on as was tweaking those settings. I have the advanced crossfader plugin installed as well and was a bit suspicious that it may be this.

    I thought about these as they are well cheap, anybody got a set of these or recommend anything better at a similar price, bearing in mind I have a smallish room.

    They will be fine for a small room
    Ive used Creative speakers in system builds for other people, and while they offer nothing more than basic sound at that cost, they certainly are good value for money

    What about them logitech ones that other people keep on about have you heard the quality of them at all, I think they are a bit more pricey but maybe it's worth it if the sound is ok, sorry can't remember the model number

    Most Logitecs will be higher quality, but will weigh in with a higher price tag.

    Its a case of you get what you pay for

    £42.46 : http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=43254
