I was also using an SD37P2, without any modifications. It should work in yours.

I now have the SD37P2 v2 for sale if anyone would be interested in it?

I'd probably suggest the 6850 to be honest with you, think they have quieter coolers in general, the stock 6870 is absolutely horrific.

I run an Akasa Vortexx Neo at full speed in my SD37P2 and have constant speed fans so noise is not too much of an issue. I am interested in the HD6870 reference cooler due to the fact that it vents the exhaust out of the case.
However,does the fan in the HD6870 cooler have a high pitched sound??

Ah ok, I know that fan, I had one and couldn't deal with the noise.

The reference cooler doesn't make a high pitched sound at all, it is a much more low undertone that is just in the background, it annoyed me a lot!
