    Business Tablet Fan? Try this...

I have just exploded from absolute geek envy that there will be people in the world using a Fujitsu Stylistic Q550, and I won't be one of them

Atom Z670, 10.1" 1280x800 IPS screen with dual digitizer, user replaceable battery, up to 9 hours on one charge, and priced at a not unreasonable £750. It's times like this that I'm glad I don't have a credit card!

Looks like it, from what some of the reviews say

Hmm... looks like a pretty decent fit for something the company I work for will need shortly. Looks pretty sweet, might have to see if I can get one on loan from our supplier.

An x86 pen digitised slate tablet with a removable battery! Not seen one of those for a long time... Well, I was excited until I noticed the Intel Atom under the bonet

If only it had a faster CPU like the ASUS Eee Slate EP121 - which doesn't have a removable battery

    Not since the HP TC1100?

What do you plan on doing on a tablet that requires more CPU oomph than an Atom? This is pretty much a digital notepad for also checking emails, researching online and watching an occasional movie whilst on the train to a meeting!

It's also 25% cheaper than the Eee Slate, and claims to have twice the battery life. For me, those are pretty much the two most important factors when choosing a mobile device...

I've not owned one since the TC1100 , although that's been my only one.

Very few tablets have been targeted at the market I'm in, the Q550 is targeted at a similar market but alas not mine. I want a tablet to fulfil multiple roles i.e. do all the tablet stuff while able to carry out tasks a reasonably powerful computer could, such performance will be detrimental to battery life - hence the requirement for removable batteries to keep me going when I'm away from the mains.

Right now, my perfect match would be somthing along the lines of the ASUS EP121 with a removable battery.

Re: Business Tablet Fan? Try this...

Thread bumpage to say - pretty dissappointed with the Q550

Got the chance to have a bit of a play with one earlier this week, and despite theoretically having touch and pen, the touch part of that is pretty poor. Maybe it would be better with a more touch oriented OS than plain 7, and it's still quite nice as a pen tablet, but it's much less flexible than I'd hoped. Also, the form factor won't accommodate a pen slot built in, so you either have to keep it in an official stand / case with pen holder, which make it a lot bulkier than it should be, or (presumably) just have the pen lying around in your pocket :yuck:

It also has a frustrating design flaw where the placement of the power inlet means it won't stand up properly in the case stand while it's plugged into the main. Shame really, it could have been such a big win....

Have you seen the Dell Peju and Samsung Series 7 Slate yet? They're yet to be released but they look like worthy contenders.
