Post What to buy for a good SB "base"?

    Hi All,

I recently "donated" my PC's motherboard, RAM and CPU to my wife's PC as it kind of died a death so as result I would like to get some up-to-date parts into it...!

I've not been in the "scene" for a while and have lost touch of what is latest and greatest, however, I did a little research and picked out the following items:

    • MSI P67A-GD53 (B3)
    • i5-2500K
    • Corsair Vengeance 4GB PC3-12800

I already have a PSU (Seasonic X-750), Case, Hard disk(s) and graphics card (currently a HD4890, but an upgrade for that will be done after the "main" parts as I have effectively no PC at the moment).

I do plan to do a little overclocking on this rig so does anyone have any recommendations for better motherboards (such as Asus P8P67 - Scan.co.uk are doing a bundle with a i5-2500K for 280GBP), or should I go for a Z68 chipset instead of P67? (I don't exactly need those extra technologies).

Thanks for any input or recommendations on this, my head is spinning with choice at the moment!

try get the z68, as some of the gigabyte motherboards like the ud7 z68 b3 the one i got are compatible for the next intel cpu ivy bridge, i wouldnt touch asus as it got virtua that a no go for me, i wait for the next gen kepler or the hd7000 series, as they both take advantage of dx11
