Don't feel so bad Zak I managed to kill two this year - f00k knows how ... with quite similar symptoms to yours, both NF7-S's - I reckon they must be very very fragile !!!

    you did?

that makes me feel better....a bit.

My Asus A7N8X lost BIOS BUT allowed me to reboot with a floopy with BIOS on it....dunno HOW it saved itself from dying totally but it did.

    Not like this one tho

I've killed an nforce 2 bios in the past dude, it's so easy to do without even knowing what you've done. Had to rma the whole thing in the end as nothing would work

Learned my lesson though now, i don't play with bios's half as much.

On a side note though have you checked the companies website for a bios update? if you could put one on a floppy it may just work, long shot i know but worth a try.

I thought about that.....it doesnt get as far as finding a floppy I dont think...

Hopefull y Agent will sort it.

He's a specialist at digging me out of the carp.....He's gonna hot swap and hot flash...

IE....boot up HIS mobo with HIS BIOS chip in...then once its in DOS on floppy, take his chip out of his motherboard LIVE, and put mine in...and FLASH it....

then boot off....take out the chip...put his own back...and pray he aint fried his own mobo.

    He's a star....AND I OWE HIM

Sounds almost like my prob. Got one of those Shuttle RefleXions, built it, booted up and nothing worked from the start. Would just sit there with the fan spinning. Tried almost everything, including with no CPU in and it still does the same. I can't figure out why so i'm gonna RMA it on monday methinks unless any of your can suggest a fix?
I know what your going through Zak, just been through exactly the same this weekend

One thing that might work, does the mobo have intergrated gfx, and possibly tv out?

I killed an Asus A7N8X deluxe BIOS last year... Fixed it by flashing it on my Asus A7N266-VM (mATX nForce 1 mobo)... Put the original bios back in to the A7N266-VM the wrong way around... Had another Asus board lying around (TUSL2-C) and tried the BIOS on that - flashed OK but wouldn't work in the A7N266-VM so that left me with two dead boards... The A7N266-VM was in my firewall so no net access (without messing around)... Next day I killed the A7N8X deluxe BIOS AGAIN - both times 'my fault' - the board was new and I was trying to overclock the b'jesus out of it - so ended up ordering a new A7N8X deluxe and a new A7N266-VM... Fixed the 'old' A7N8X deluxe via hot flashing AGAIN... Sold it and kept the other one which has never given me any problem (but then again Asus released a new BIOS release about that time so that may have fixed the problem)...

I've had problems with my SFF. It just wouldn't boot. The trick is, give it a bump. Sounds odd yes but with the SN41G2's if you give it a t*** it works again. I've known a few people to have this problem. It might not be the BIOS for all you know. Have yo tried re-seating the CPU?

tried the heatsink and checked it was ok....but to be fair, I had already had it running in BIOS for nearly 20 minutes and temps were fine...

Agent will have it by now I hope.....so fingers crossed.

I'm glad AND sad that you've all had similar problems.

Agent informs me that most newer BIOS's are better versions....and to be fair....my Asus A7N8X died in the first week I had it, BUT would flash from floppy....

and its been the best mobo I;ve had since..that was over a year ago too...

thnks for the support guys...means a lot
