Question Headphones and sound card ?

    Hello,

I have a pair of headphones with a built in microphone.

I can use the microphone with no problems, just got them plugged into the pink port on my sound card

However i carnt get the headphones to work

If i plug the headphpones into the green port on the sound card they work, but then my speakers dont work as they need the green port

I have been told i need a Y spliter to plug into my sound card so i can have the speakers and headphones connected at the same time

Does anyone know where i can get one of theses Y spliters ?

    Cheers

See if your case has a headphone and microphone port on the front, using those may not interfere. If not, do you have a 4 channel+ card? You could configure the routing so that rear out mirrored the front outs. SBLive's are great for this, especially with the KXProject Drivers.

The problem with using a splitter is that you get half the volume to both outputs, so you'd have quiet headphones and quiet speakers, which is a pain.

Do you need speakers at the same time as headphones? if not, use the plugs on the front of your case or follow this mod and use headphones when you need to and unplug them when you don't =)

Need to know what your soundcard is, whether you have integrated sound too (even if you're not using it)

you could enable the onboard and plug headphones into that, but it doesnt always work. kxproject (link above) drivers work with the audigy, and let you route the sound as you see fit.

or you could buy an AudigyDrive from ebay/creative/ebuyer (ebay sometimes has just the drive, creative always do but it costs quite a bit, and ebuyer used to, not looked recently.)
