    upgrade or bin

    ok, i need some more power...

    currently i have:
    a athlon 1000mhz Tbird
    on a MSI K7tpro1( MS-6330)]
    with 256+128mb of PC 133
    and an asus GeForce2 GTS
    80gb segate barracudaV
    - i've had the pc since christmas 2000

    i was wondering , if i where going to give it another, what could i do?

    - would it even be possable to fit a new cpu, barton 2500 fit
    - is it worth fitting a better graphics card?

    or is it just doomed my become a doorstop

    Withouth checking, I can say with 90% certainty that any core newer than a thoroughbred won't work in that motherboard. The chipset won't support it... I don't think.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Sell it to a muppet in the local pages and buy yourself an ubermachine
    Hard Drive might be worth keeping but its probably best to sell the whole thing as you'll get a better price.

    yeah, i was thinking maybe i might turn it into a fileserver and get a new machine for in here (my room) beacuse i have been thing of geting a £250 fileserver - which would work out being about the same speed at this is (ie duron 1000M processor, etc)

    - if i did the, i would proberbly put a pair of segate 7.7200's with a raid card in it and have them in a raid 1 array - or not both having any redundentcy and just have a single 120GB

    - then, build another PC for this room using the 80GB barra V
